Platform Director of Production

Meet Vyacheslav Gladyshev, our Director of Production. He’s a multi-faceted professional with impressive skills ranging from technical understanding to advanced business strategy. In addition, he’s a passionate gamer and has turned this hobby into his job! Also, he has a bar at home, and if you are fortunate enough to get to know him well, he can share a secret about making the best whisky sour in town!

Tell the story about your career path and education?

My current position is an amalgamation of product management and operation. It requires an understanding of technical details as well as a strategic business approach. My first higher education, linguistics, helped me to keep a broader picture and pinpoint details when needed. My second higher education, Communications networks and switching systems allowed me to discuss technical solutions with developers and architects. I often play the role of interpreter between business and development. I worked for several companies that differed in size, culture, and processes, which gave me invaluable experience.

Name several reasons why you chose to join the gaming industry. What is so attractive in the game industry?

I am a huge player, so I have always wanted to be part of the process. So not only do I get to indulge in my passion but also be part of the development and growth of this comparatively young industry. Moreover, the gaming industry provides an energetic environment that is constantly on the rise, with more opportunities for further growth. Each passing day, this industry brings new ways for people to interact and play together around the world.

Could you share your perspective on what is unique about Wargaming?

My perspective on what makes Wargaming unique: it’s an incredible combination of being a large company with huge success and also having a certain cosiness of being a private company.

I’ve been here for years now, and I can tell you that it’s allowed us to create some really great content focused on the games we love.

It’s always been about quality for us – something we’re committed to – and that comes from our ability to focus on what we do best without trying to stretch too thin. We have a great team, full of passion and enthusiasm, who are always pushing us forward while staying true to our core values.

What is so special about your area of responsibility?

The best part about my job is that no two days are ever the same!

Every day presents a new challenge, but I thrive on the dynamic environment that our teams create here. We work with several games and a few other stakeholders to make sure everyone is getting the most out of their work. Instead of relying on authority to make decisions, we build trust and respect by engaging with our partners to come up with mutually beneficial solutions.

What is the most important for you as a manager? What people are you looking for in your team?

The most important thing for me is having a team of dedicated and hardworking people. I’m looking for people who have a real passion for making games and a genuine enthusiasm to try something new.

I’m looking for people who share my passion, drive and enthusiasm for producing amazing gaming experiences. Team members who can bring potential opportunities to life with creative ideas and carefully thought-out plans to get there. I’m looking for those who are able to think outside the box and take risks in order to create something truly unique and exciting.

Would you share your thoughts about the privileges of being in Lithuania? What do you like the most about this country?

I would say that one of the best aspects of being in Lithuania is the country’s rich culture.

Vilnius serves as a great example of this, with its old town and other monuments that tell the story of its past, and it has a vibrant modern side too!

Additionally, Vilnius is a super green city, and its citizens are incredibly friendly and welcoming!

What are your hobbies?

I play games, A LOT of games. And I’m fortunate to have a job that almost feels like a hobby to me. I love what I do.

Do you have a joke to tell?

When a stakeholder asks if it is possible to do what they want us to do, we often joke – of course, we are software engineers, everything is possible in the IT world, the question is only when you need it and how much you are ready to invest.

Who are you when you close office doors/laptop?

I’m a father of three wonderful kids and a dog dad. Also, I have a bar at home. When I’m behind the bar, I’m in my happy place, making whiskey sours with raw eggs like no one else can!

What advice would you give to a new joiner?

My advice for any new joiner would be to embrace the culture of collaboration and communication at our company. Talk to people, ask questions, be curious, and share your ideas. You will have fun and will be noticed!
