Audio & Video

The title ‘Visual Arts & Audio’ covers a lot, from the general artistic direction of our products and the 2D and 3D models used in any type of published content to all sound and video assets and the technical implementation of said 3D models. This team also makes sure all assets, including your most beloved vehicles, are historically accurate and as authentic as possible.

Anything you see has gone through our hands at one point or another, including this website you’re navigating. Pretty good, right?

Could you tell us the story about your career path and education? Maybe give some professional background.

Since I can remember, music has always been my thing, and I have dedicated more than 20 years of my life to it. I have worked as a professional composer and music arranger for the past two decades. I’ve composed music for various projects, ranging from bands to video ads, theatrical performances, and movie productions.

I’ve always been passionate about music, so eventually, other professional musicians and I created the band «Port Mone trio», and we’ve been touring for over fifteen years! During this time, I gained a wealth of experience in live performance.

For the last 10 years, I have been fortunate to start working as a freelance game audio creator and continue my professional way in indie game studios as an in-house sound designer and composer. Finally, I was invited to join Wargaming audio team.

During this time, I not only got to develop my audio design skills but also trained over one hundred sound design students at one of the most popular audio design courses in the region. It was gratifying to see their progress and success throughout their studies.

Name several reasons why you chose to join the gaming industry. What’s so attractive about the game industry?

The most attractive aspect for me about game development is the freedom it provides for creativity. This industry allows us to take risks with our ideas and experiment with different possibilities. It also encourages us to push ourselves past our comfort zone to create something truly unique and special.

Here you can imagine and push to live personal missions such as giving the players new experiences, new beauty of the sounds and music and trying to make the world a little more beautiful and kind. I believe that the arts develop people, so I am trying to develop myself and share something good I understood with the audience.

Moreover, this industry is constantly evolving and innovating, making every day new and exciting. There’s always something new on the horizon, whether discovering a new technology or finding creative ways to use existing ones. We have access to immensely powerful tools that can help us create incredible experiences for players in ways we never thought possible before.

At Wargaming, I can share my audio vision with millions of people worldwide, which is incredibly rewarding in itself! It’s also great being part of a team where everyone contributes their talents together to create beautiful interactive experiences that live up to our expectations of excellence across all platforms.

Could you share your perspective on what is so unique about Wargaming?

I think the unique thing about Wargaming is its corporate culture, which emphasises employee satisfaction and recognition. The team of engineers, artists, and designers are all top-notch professionals who have achieved great success throughout their careers. Having such an experienced and diverse team allows the company to take on even the most difficult challenges with confidence.

What’s so special about the Audio Design discipline and your area of responsibility?

Our team works tirelessly to create an immersive experience for World of Tanks PC players by crafting authentic, realistic sounds that draw gamers into the game. We strive to make sure players can quickly identify vehicles, feel the intensity of battle scenarios, and be immersed in the environment they’re driving through.

Our sound effects range from the roar of engines and explosions of artillery fire to birdsongs and rivers rippling in the background. Each one of those sounds serves its purpose perfectly in order to create an enjoyable, immersive experience for players all over the world. World of Tanks music aims not only to support the atmosphere and gameplay but also to explore new musical horizons with our players worldwide.

Could you share your thoughts about the privileges of being in Lithuania? What do you like the most about this country? Tell the fact why everyone should visit Lithuania!

I find many similarities between Lithuanians and people from my home country regarding historical heritage, mentality, traditions and even humour. It provides a sense of comfort for me. Open communication with the locals makes me feel free, and as I learn more about the Lithuanian language, these boundaries slowly dissolve.

Lithuania offers plenty of opportunities to explore its cultural heritage. You can find ancient castles and fascinating stories from different centuries. Moreover, there are plenty of tourist activities – national parks to explore, delicious food to try out, lots of cultural events like concerts or festivals to attend and numerous traditional festivities around Lithuania every year.

I believe that Lithuania is a great place to visit for anyone looking for an exciting experience filled with culture and adventure. Despite being relatively small compared to other European countries, it has enough unique attractions to offer, making your trip unforgettable!

What are your hobbies?

As you can tell, I’m really passionate about music. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I’m constantly seeking out new and innovative ways to express myself through sound.

Aside from that, I love gaming, reading and playing table tennis – all of which provide great opportunities to take a break from the daily grind and relax. Playing table tennis is especially enjoyable when you find someone to compete with, as it helps push your boundaries. Additionally, reading provides a fantastic chance to broaden your horizons and gain numerous insights.

By combining all these activities together, I feel like my lifestyle is truly balanced and fulfilling!

What advice would you give to a new joiner?

When newcomers come aboard, I usually advise them to

  • keep their eyes wide open and absorb as much information as possible during their first weeks on the job;
  • listen carefully to what coworkers have to say about different aspects of development;
  • be ready to experiment, and don’t be afraid of trying things out;
  • share their thoughts and ideas openly with other members of the team;
  • stay up-to-date with modern trends in the gaming industry – this will allow them to increase their understanding of how games are created and identify innovative solutions that could help move our company forward.

All these tips should help ensure a smoother transition into a Wargaming environment.
